Overview, 2012 show  results

ZEUS proved to be a  force to be reckoned with in the show ring during 2012. From the 38 shows Zeus  attended he took 28 Best of Breed’s and 8 Reserve BOB’s. Zeus graciously allowed  his boys, Enzo and Ronin, to walk off with 6 Best of Breeds between them.  Another Keystone bred boy, Khan also made off with a BOB. Zeus claimed the  coveted titles as “2013 National KUSA Miniature Schnauzer” again and was invited  to the following prestigious competitions, “Animaltalk top 32 stakes 2012” and  for the “Royal Canin Super Sevens”.

RONIN was an eye-opener  in the ring in more than one way. On the spur of the moment and on a  1st attempt at a rolled coat we entered him in the puppy class where  he was awarded numerous puppy group placing’s. With this in mind we decided to  show him as a junior. Promptly we striped Ronin out and entered him as a junior  in four shows only. Of these four shows Ronin took THREE of them as Best  JUNIOR IN SHOW back to back! The Fourth show he was awarded 3rd best  junior in show. What a start to Ronin's show career in 2012. Hopefully Ronin  will continue to mature well during 2013 and do his dad, Zeus even more proud.

Enzo was not to be  outdone by Ronin’s great results earlier in the year and picked up from where  Ronin left off. Enzo raked in a Best Puppy in Specialty show and also did very  well in the puppy groups. Then at the prestigious South African Ladies  invitational, “BEST JUNIOR OF THE YEAR” Enzo bagged 3rd place! We  were thrilled, especially since Enzo started to turn into a robust boy and was  shaking of his lanky puppy looks. Off Enzo went to Cape Town’s shows and did  super well there too. Of the  six  shows; Enzo took two of them as Best Junior in SHOW, another as Best Junior in  Speciality show and one as Reserve Best Junior in show and a 2nd
BJIG, as well as GR3 placings at a FCI and a KUSA Ch. show. This boy bred by  Brenda Fortes of Brenfor Kennels, with the“help of Zeus” has been a true star in  his own right. Reflecting on Enzo’s results I am almost certain I can hear Enzo  say…”bring on 2013!!!”  To add to
our happiness…Enzo’s 1stlitter of 4 puppies born in October were of  super quality too, to-date one of the best all-round quality litters born at  Keystone. THANK YOU ENZO!

This overview will be  incomplete without mentioning WODAC 2012. Under world Renown All Breeds Best in  Show Judge Senor Ramon Podesta, Keystone Schnauzers raked in excellent results.
Keystone’s Brace took Reserve   Best in Show in the breeders Challenge;  Enzo won the Adult UTILITY Group stakes and also placed 3rd in the Puppy  Stakes (9-12 months). Lira, Ronin’s sister did her part by placing 3rd in the  junior stakes (12 -18 months). Zeus won the Champion Utility group stakes (Zeus  ended up  placed 32th in the  ranking of all show dogs in South Africa and his boy Ronin with limited showing,  71st).

Thank you also to the  local and foreign judges that made some lovely comments about the dogs we show,  it was a pleasure to show under you guys! I can only thank my boys and girls for  going out there and doing the best they can. Win or lose I love you!!!  And as for Reinette van Reenen, Brenda  Fortes, Pixie Mitchley, Louise Thompson and my Sister Annelien?
