This is Cocaine, reporting live from Meyerton, it’s been 15 minutes since my last meal, however that is besides the point…
I am here to do a very, very special report on a most special boy today, DANTE. DANTE is no ordinary SCHNAUZ, in fact, he has achieved one seriously special feat by dragging the BEST PUPPY IN SHOW Rosette home for his mom, Reinette Ludike on the weekend.
My o my, what a stunning Rosette, almost outshines DANTE, if that is possible. Zack and I’ve been mulling over the idea to sell this, “THEE ROSETTE” on the black market, knowing it will fetch a handsome haul of toys and second hand bones. Just as a test, just as a test, I have you know, ZACK and I’ve put out the word “THEE ROSETTE” is up for sale and the 1st one to contact yours truly was a rambunctious little toy poodle from a town called Kissimmee in Florida, USA, even going so far as to CAST his favorite leash into the deal with the whole 'shebang' of used toys and second hand bones. NICE HEY?!!! Anyways it was particularly tempting when he upped the price once we refused with his well-marked pink divan. Coming to think of it, the divan would have been a deal maker, but, Zack and I simply can’t get past the idea of reclining upon a pink divan with a pink leash draped around our necks…. So we both growled once at him; he got the message and DANTE is keeping “THEE ROSETTE” …. Well for now in any case….
At this point we know Dante’s movement is drop dead nice to behold. This fact has come to my attention when I see the wee lassies on the small holding looking at Dante when he breezes past them, so effortlessly, he just moves, no fuss, no effort, HE JUST GOES!!! What seems to be the “driving force” behind this adoration on their part, well in part at least, is the volume of chest hair he sports. Now if ZACK or I had that on our chests, lol, we would consider ourselves truly blessed.
Apparently my Aunt Savannah, twice removed, bred back, out crossed again and then line bred twice in a row overheard Reinette speaking to a Shcnoodle breeder from some flea invested little town in Nevada called RATTLE SNAKE CITY asking to buy DANTE. Now for the life of me I don’t know why they call it a city, with only 3 shacks and a bottle store it hardly seems to be a town to upstanding folk like myself. I digress, according to Savannah; Reinette almost swallowed her phone when she in no uncertain terms disposed of the aforementioned caller!!! Good for Reinette!!! We love DANTE just too much to see him go somewhere else, with his tail always wagging, and his sunny disposition, we may still see what the desperate will offer for his “ THEE ROSETTE”… BUT FOR NOW….

This is Cocaine, reporting live from Meyerton, with eyes as large as coconuts…
I simply cannot believe my eyes, dear listener's glancing past the Mealie Fields and down the road, around the corner is my dad’s pick-up coming at a Chihuahua’s pace. Low and behold (mind da pun listenersJ) I mean lowwwwww, and slowwww and laden to the very top with Rosettes, baaaaaagggggs of food and prizes and gifts galore, loaded right to the very top, I have never, ever, seen dad negotiating any dirt road with such care.
In between this you can see ZACK, yes ZACK, my brother, from the same mother, beaming like Jaws, ready to swallow a Tuna. I mean his head is about to fall off. I can see so far past those pearly whites that I know instantly what treats he had at the show, LIVERRRRRR BRREAD! YUM!!
In any event, Dad seems to be radiating pure bliss, as he looks approvingly at ZACK. Seems to me that ZACK and kie had a spectacular day at the shows. Hold on Listeners; let’s rather get this fresh from Zack's mouth…. We will break for a quick advert and in a couple of minutes have it directly from ZACK himself.

Zack - 2016 Junior Dog of the Year - Judge Mrs Yvonne Meintjies (Aus)
Welcome back, dear listeners, and now, with me I have ZACK, …ZACK, 1st of all thank you for coming on the show, we have it on good authority that things went well today, congratulations! In your own words can you give us a quick break down of today’s events for the benefit of the listeners?
“Yes Cocaine, it went well indeed. The Schnauzers really did extraordinary at the shows today. We managed to rake in a RESERVE BEST IN SHOW, BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW, and hold on your seat Cocaine, I was able to win the prestigious, JUNIOR DOG OF THE YEAR 2016 award, from all the different breeds!!!
Now for the listeners out there, they invite the puppy Dogs and bitches that have been awarded the greatest number of Best Puppy Certificates at any championship show over the time period of a year (not FCI) in South Africa and Namibia and then these compete for the honors of JUNIOR DOG OF THE YEAR, 2016. So to put it differently they invite the top winning puppies over a year and then these compete for top honors. And I am very privileged to say, I was able to bring the winning Rosette home for us schnauzers. Sparkle, also, not to be outdone on the day brought home the cc for the girls and awaits confirmation as a SA CHAMPION
WOWWWW ZACK that’s truly awesome!! What a wonderful achievement!!! And tell the listeners how you guys did yesterday, was it as good?
Well, yes Cocaine, as you know we also did super awesome yesterday. We raked in 2nd place in the utility group, both CC’s and BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW!!! And as a young boy of only 13 months I won the adult utility group for the prestigious NAPC TOP DOG COMPETITION. Tarryn, brought home the CC for the girls and also awaits confirmation as a SA Champion.
Well there you have it listeners, no wonder then that when ZACK arrived here just now his chest was a big as bulldogs and it clearly, not because of TARRYN”S LIVER BREAD.
ZACK again, on behalf of all the Schnauzer listeners out there, well done, my brother!!! You continue to amaze us and do us Schnauzers proud!!!

You all know the shows for the year are done and dusted. Since Dad and Reinette started showing again in August of this very year, we Keystone woofs took Best of Breed 12 times out the 13 on offer!!! Woof, WOOF!!! No wonder then Dad bought us some T-BONE steaks each to show his full appreciation, and I have to tell you this LAZY AGED MATURED COW was DAAAALICIOUS!!! Juicy, succulent, grrrrrrrreatt. So much so that I felt the need to lick Tarryn’s beard clean afterward J, upon which, I told dad, ”Better to post pics of this just to make sure”…. J
At the risk of being boastful, I, Cocaine, have to point out to my Schnauzer listeners and fans; here in Sunny South Africa… this is possibly the best results in 13 consecutive shows that Schnauzers enjoyed in perhaps 10 years if not more, ggggrrrrr GREAT AINT IT? I better ask Dad for another T-BONE, heheheee, not sure if he will comply since he keeps an eye on my hips lest they become wobbly…

In a nut shell. How do championship shows work?
There are about 50 shows per year, all over South Africa.
There are 7 groups of dogs that compete and make up a show. I.e. gun dogs group, Herding dogs group, Hound dogs group, terriers group, toy dogs group, utility group dogs, working group. Each different type of dog breed falls into one of these groups.
Miniature Schnauzers fall in the Utility ring.
Giants fall in the Working Group
The show starts of by each breed competing for top honours amongst themselves. Meaning Miniature Schnauzers compete amongst themselves, before the best of the minis then compete against the other breeds
They all compete 1st according to an age bracket and sex. 1st the miniature schnauzer male puppies against each other. Then juniors and also the seniors all in their relative age groups and males against males, females against females.
There after the winner of males and the winner of the females of each age group then compete for being crowned BEST MINIATURE SCHNAUZER PUPPY or BEST JUNIOR MINIATURE SCHNAUZER, according to the age group.
From these age group winners, one male and one female then get awarded a championship point each. Thereafter, all these age group winners then compete for being awarded BEST OF BREED. (Meaning in the judge’s opinion that Particular Miniature Schnauzer is the best of the miniature schnauzer on that particular day).
Once the winner of each different breed has been decided do they compete to see who will be the winner of that group (all in age groups as well). Meaning the best mini Schnauzer will compete against the best Poodle, the best Bulldog, and the best Dalmatian etc.
The winner of each group then gets to compete for the top honour of being Best in Show.
SO in short:
1st the minis compete against each other in age groups.
2nd the winners of all the different breeds in each group of dogs then compete against each other to be crowned winner of that age group in that particular group

I Cocaine implore you guys to come and support us at the ring when we strut our stuff for the judges, just that happy smile and a “GO COCAINE GO!” from yonder adoring public can put the spark back in our step. People, I tell you, its hard work showing. You guys should see my DAD puffing his way up and down the ring when he shows me, hehehee
Arrive anytime from 9 onwards with (loads of treat for me), but we tend to be in the Utility ring around 12 ish depending how fast or slow the judge is judging on the day.

This is Cocaine, reporting live from the couch with an Icepak on my tummy...
People, THE HEAT IS ON!!! Literally and figuratively, it was so hot around the ring over the last 3 days that I believe the black tips on my hair ends is not due to my excellent breeding heritage but rather from being toasted by the sun. This heat wave was enough to make a grown woof sigh, and I will let you know, not with delight either.
However, us Keystone Woofs created some major heat waves of our own, on Friday, my brother from the same mother, yes that will be ZACK, took best Junior in group and I, yours truly, COCAINE, Main group 3!! YAY!!!
On Saturday Caesar, Ch Keystone’s Blue Dancer, turned up the heat another notch by taking the Utility main group!!! You should have seen Francois face, hehehee his jaw dropped open like a cash register at the local café where he buys our cauliflower and broccoli treats. The man was so, so proud when he was taking Caesar into the Best in Show ring. Dad did his best to show Caesar to his potential, and when he went home Caesar got extra hugs and liver. Lucky CAEZAR!!! Any case, Tarryn the hottie, was SMOKING, and raked in 2nd best junior in group.

However, us Keystone Woofs created some major heat waves of our own, on Friday, my brother from the same mother, yes that will be ZACK, took best Junior in group and I, yours truly, COCAINE, Main group 3!! YAY!!!
On Saturday Caesar, Ch Keystone’s Blue Dancer, turned up the heat another notch by taking the Utility main group!!! You should have seen Francois face, hehehee his jaw dropped open like a cash register at the local café where he buys our cauliflower and broccoli treats. The man was so, so proud when he was taking Caesar into the Best in Show ring. Dad did his best to show Caesar to his potential, and when he went home Caesar got extra hugs and liver. Lucky CAEZAR!!! Any case, Tarryn the hottie, was SMOKING, and raked in 2nd best junior in group.

But did ZACK OUT DO ALL THE KEYSTONE KIDS TODAY?!! Listen to this… RESERVE BEST IN SHOW…. And BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW!!! I loooooveed my Bro, he looked so, so dashing in his white socks and neatly trimmed moustache, even the Afgan was flashing her white teeth at him, hahahaaa!
But Zack was on a roll, he only warmed (mind the pun) up for the 2nd show of the day. There he took BEST IN SHOW!!! And 2nd BEST PUPPY IN SHOW!!! Albeit a specialty show, still all this at the tender age of 10 months? Perhaps it’s got somethings to do with the fact that he was born on the 1st of Jan that makes him so successful, or can it be all the crickets he hunts in the garden? Trust me, Henceforth I will leave no cricket unattended in the garden either. Everybody congratulated Reinette and Francois and ruffled Zack’s coat and praised my younger brother. ReinetteLludike whom groomed and handled ZACK beamed like a new LED light in the darkest hour of the night. DAD? Well he was more concerned if he would be able to fit all the prizes on the back of his van. He was going to need to make two trips to get us and the prizes home but in the end Reinette loaded her Renault with half the prizes and off we went. |

Well I can safely report, my brother and I are set- up for life with new food bowls, towels, and food bins, READ MY LIPS…. for life….

This is Cocaine, reporting live from the small holding in Meyerton....
Out the scissors came on Friday, followed by that dreadful hairdryer, Man o man you should have seen the look on brother Zack's face. Too funny for words. He immediately knew it was time to get ready to show, AND MY DID DAD MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE A GAZILLION DOLLARS! Even though his coat is long and blown Dad nipped and tucked all over and pulled his hair here and there and "Bobs your Auntie" so to speak, the Boy looked stunning!!!
But I have it on good authority that I am up for a nip and tuck too.
Anyways I am drifting away from the core of this report, TARRYN.... O MY SOUL!!! What a beauty!!! Dad did not have to do much on her, I mean he only cut her trimmings and my o my... Gorgeous!!! She looked like an angel from heaven. She mesmerizes all the boys over here, I mean all, even yours truly, he hehe heee. She noticed me looking sheepishly at her a couple of times and all she does is to bark sweetly at me flashing her pearly whites. Cruel I tell you! Anyways I am sure she will wow the people at the ring side and also the people at the walk tomorrow... Now I better go along and keep an eye on that gigolo of a poodle....
